Why is it young gang members have such a lack of respect for human life and authority?

just in last 4 days, in chicago, there were 45 shootings, with 95% gang related! that is one city alone! why can't society step up and punish them harder, by life senteences, even at age 15 or 16?

How is your neighborhood at night?

i live in a city with in California called Hawthorne, borders Inglewood, Lenox, Gardena, Compton and Athens, and i do not feel comfortable walking to the liquor store with or with out some one at night or Afternoon. About 60 percent of the time i go to the liquor store after 7 o'clock i have to run back home because i get Banged on by gangsters usualy in a vehicle...Do you fear walking out your house past 7 O'clock? where do you stay at?

I dont think you necessarily have much of an obligation here. It sounds like he invited himself and thats that. Don't rearrange your life. Be pleasant, have some drinks in the fridge. Drum up some old memories, things to talk about, but if he's planning on staying with you, thats just really presumptuous. Just chill out and, who knows, maybe he'll turn out to be the coolest old dude you ever met. It could be a lot of fun just sitting around talking about people, bec right now, as far as you know, the only thing you have in common are family. Just be yourself, there is no right way or wrong way to act.
