How is your neighborhood at night?

i live in a city with in California called Hawthorne, borders Inglewood, Lenox, Gardena, Compton and Athens, and i do not feel comfortable walking to the liquor store with or with out some one at night or Afternoon. About 60 percent of the time i go to the liquor store after 7 o'clock i have to run back home because i get Banged on by gangsters usualy in a vehicle...Do you fear walking out your house past 7 O'clock? where do you stay at?
