Chevy Malibu ticking noise getting louder

if you have a 3.1 or 3.4l these are really bad about intake gaskets leaking once they start leaking the oil and coolant mix causing coolant to wash out the bearings and create an audible ticking noise if this is the case then it will not get any better. it is possible that the old oil in there was thicker dampening the noise and once you changed the oil with thinner oil the noise was louder, hopfully the intake gaskets have been replaced if this is what is cusing your noise. good luck
