Do I have to put my religion on an job application in Northern Ireland?

I am applying for a job based in Belfast and I am surprised to be asked to state my marital status, my age and my religion on the application. This would be illegal in England - are the discrimination laws different in Northern Ireland? If I don't include this information, can I be asked it at interview?
